packing up!

The Three Weeks and Tisha B'Av have come and gone so we're packing to leave for the beach on Sunday. I'll leave with a few spinning shots since I couldn't knit during the Nine Days leading to Tisha B'Av:
chocolate brown Romeldale, 470 yards 2 ply fingering weight
Carodan Farm worsted dyed in lichen
silver Romney plied with silver thread; there was about 66 yards of that blend and then 20 yards of 2 ply Romney when I ran out of the thread to ply with
And my wonderful package from Bronwynn, my swap partner in the Ravelry Ankh-Morpork Knitters' Guild's Guild Swap:

CMOT Dibbler Swap

Yes, over at the Ankh-Morpork Knitters' Guild on Ravelry, we held a CMOT Dibbler themed mini swap (and if you have no idea what I'm talking about, it's all related to Terry Pratchett's series of Discworld books, internationally beloved and snorted about).  My gift from my upstream:

Yes, you see it right:  rat-onna-stick and meat-inna-bun-onna-stick (cleverly disguised as two pairs of home-decorated size 7 knitting needles); meat-inna-bun stitch markers; and some finishing needles.
The funniest thing was that I joked to Jeffrey that there was no way Kayla would ever want to borrow the rat knitting needles; instead of the expected reaction, though, what we got from her was cooing over all of it with an insistence that I have to make a robe for one of the rats and turn it into The Grim Squeaker (aka The Death of Rats, another Discworld character).

Some more fiber

I knit mom a hat (from the pattern, Labyrinth Duo, in Knitter's mag):

She had complained that I had knit her several lacy hats which left her ears cold, so this one should give somewhat better coverage.  It also serves as Arithmancy homework in the Harry Potter House Cup knitting game, since this month's assignment related to labyrinths.
And I spun some sock yarn (about 350 yards):

And named it Captain Carrot in honor of the Discworld books character.
