Spring is officially here: We have politics and fleece

First, because I think it's critically important if you're in the US, no matter what your political beliefs and orientations may be, please, please, read this Facebook post by Donna Druchunas, regarding her effort to have knitters and crocheters send hand-crafted female reproductive systems to male politicians.

This is serious, so please read it all the way through because I am probably not saying what you think I am going to say. I need to say something about birth control, abortion, and government interference in women's personal decisions.
I know many of my friends are pro-life and feel that abortion is wrong. But that does not mean you should think that the government should be in charge of women's reproductive health or decisions about pregnancy, birth control, or even abortion.
Look at it this way: If you vote to make abortiona illegal, that gives the government power over women's choices. So if you're against abortion you are happy. BUT if the government has that power, then in the future, when a different party is in power, maybe they will decide that we need more population control and require you to have an abortion if you already have 1 child and get pregnant, in a China-like law.

Do you see how it cuts both ways? The decision of what to do with our bodies and families is personal. If we let the government have power over this, we are giving up our rights as human beings, as individuals with freedom, and we don't know what the government may do with that power in the future.

Keeping government out of the bedroom is NOT about being a Democrat or a Republican. It is NOT about being pro-choice or pro-life. It is about freedom for all. And isn't that what America is supposed to be about?

Thank you for listening, and I hope this gives you a different way to think about an issue that is distorted in the news by people on both sides of the aisle.

Donna has created a FB page here for the continued effort, and also a Ravelry group.   Meanwhile, anti-woman (not pro-health or pro-life, but anti-women's health) legislation has been passed or is under consideration in TX, VA, NH, RI, ID, ND, and more (I hate updating that list with more states).  None of this is done out of concern for women, their health, their well-being, or the good of the greater community.  Please consider participating if you have anything to say.  This is a non-partisan effort meant to simply request that women and their medical professionals be allowed to make their own medical decisions based on science and medicine.

Now for the fun stuff:  fleece!  fleece!  fleece!  About 7.5 lbs of Rambouillet x Targhee x Polypay, to be exact, from Ranching Traditions Fiber.
The whole fleece and nothing but the fleece

Lock on the right has been quickly washed
I do not have any other fleeces on order, but I keep seeing beautiful ones.  I'm trying to hold out and not buy more than a single other one this season, possibly waiting for MDSW...but we'll see.  In the meantime, I can share some of this one, so if anyone is interested, contact me privately and we'll see what we can do.

Incidentally, K has named this fleece Willy, because, well, it's wooly.
